Have a Batman Kids Party!

Batman Begins is out, now let's have a Batman kids party!

Whether or not you live in Gotham City, this article assumes that you're hosting your Batman party at home in your private Batcave.

Use the ideas below as a springboard for your imagination. Use as few or as many as you wish. They are intended as suggestions only.

Most supplies can be made at home or purchased nearby inexpensively.

If you don't have the time or inclination to do it all yourself, there are wonderful resources online which will provide you with complete party packages.

One site that has a great assortment of Batman themed cups, plates, napkins, invitations, balloons, and table covers is ShindgZ. It offers all-in-one sets of themed party supplies - a much better deal than buying items separately.

So feel free to use as few or as many of these suggestions as you want and modify them as you wish.

Batman Kids Party Invitations
You have several options.

Birthday-in-a-Box offers Batman Begins fill-in-the-blank invitations which you can buy separately or as part of your own Party Box.

Or make your own. Here is an idea.

Materials needed: yellow and black construction paper and black pen or marker.

Take yellow construction paper and cut out a 4 inch circle. Take the black paper and cut out the shape of batwings. Glue it onto the yellow circle. On the other side, write the invitation detail.

A variation is to take a yellow card in the size of a post-card. Create and glue the batwings (see above) onto the card.

On the other side, write the invitation detail on the left, leaving the right side blank to fill in the name and address of the recipient.

Add a stamp and your invitations are ready to mail. (P.S. If your card size is 4.25" x 6" or less, you can use less expensive postcard postage). Consider asking guests to come in costume.

Batman Kids Party Decor
Decor can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. These are some ideas to get you started.

Greet guests with a lighted Bat screen. (Hint: you can use this again on Halloween).

Then have the kids enter through a Bat Cave entrance. Build one or use this cool self-standing cave entrance from ShindgZ.

Have the party at night if possible (what a cool idea for a sleep-over).

Hang black crepe paper and metallic balloons all around. Put up Bat Static Clings on windows, doors, etc.

Pictures and posters of Batman and Bat Man movies ... maps of "Gotham City" ... these are additional options.

ShindgZ has life-sized stand-ups of Batman characters. (Hint: you can take photographs of the kids with posing with the stand-ups).

Favors, prizes ...
Goody bags with any combination of Batman action figures, candy, stickers, etc ...

Batman Kids Party Activities and Games
Rent a Batman movie or old Batman TV shows, open up the popcorn, and enjoy!

If it is nighttime, play "flashlight tag". "Batman" uses a flashlight to protect Gotham City. If the beam of light touches a player they are "out".

Water gun duels between "Batman," "Robin" and the "good guys" versus the "Joker," Riddler" and other menaces to Gotham City are fun activities in your backyard during a hot summer day.

The Batman Collector's edition of Monopoly features comic book-style artwork from DC Comics. is another take on the classic Monopoly board game. From Amazon.

Batman Kids Party Refreshments
"Batmobile" pizza and burgers, and "lightning" hot dogs.

The Batmobile needs liquid fuel, so you'll want to provide "high octane" fruit juices, lemonade, and soda.

If you are creative, take a sheet cake and paint batwings with dark colored icing on top.
