Child Party Themes
Child party themes can be as creative as you and your child want to be. In fact, many of the ideas described in my article about children's birthday parties can be easily expanded into full blown party themes.
With the wealth of cultural resources, books, crafts, games, and party supplies easily available, you can plan a party that will be fun and won't break the bank.
Choosing a theme for your child's party is a great way to focus your planning.
...And it is easy to do.
Ask your child what she would like. Usually the party theme will reflect her interests, hobbies or sports.
Hot new movies like Star Wars make a great kid's party theme.
The theme itself will direct you to the setting and decor of the party.
For example, if your child loves sharks, what better place to be than the local aquarium where he can see sharks up close and personal. Or the zoo, if he or she loves elephants and wants a jungle theme. The local Art museum is a great place for the budding artist, a concert for the budding musician, the planetarium for the budding astronomer... you get the idea.
Many such institutions have activities geared for children.
But if you want to stay on your home turf, you have tons of options as well.
This page and the links to specific themes below are geared primarily to at home parties.
For home celebrations, you can get your creative juices flowing. There are many books not to mention resources on the net to get you started.
And if you prefer, you can buy everything you need from soup to nuts.
Reasonably priced, coordinated party packages which include decorations, cups, plates, utensils, etc., are available from vendors such as Birthday in a Box, or ShindigZ.com are available in many, many themes. Pinatas.com also sells theme packages, but its specialty are really cool pinatas of every conceivable design.
These vendors will also sell items separately.
You can look to the above vendors for ideas on games and activities.
In some cases, projects using simple construction paper, crayons, scissors and glue can keep kids occupied.
Theme related shows and movies on DVD can be a crowd pleaser also.
And, then there's food. Child party themes can often be carried out into the food by small touches such as a flourish of icing on a cake.
Lastly, keep it simple. Both you and your kids will enjoy yourselves more.
