More Ideas for Children's Birthday Parties
Another party idea for kids is to have a pottery party. Facilities have opened up that allow you to paint on pottery. Then they can put it into a kiln for you. Most will host parties and many have special children's birthday party packages.
Ice skaters might enjoy a trip to the ice rink.
Not only are these alternatives fun, but many are inexpensive.
A Day of Beauty
Recently, for example, our local newspaper had an article about the popularity of makeovers as a party idea for preteens. Mom arranges with a local beauty school or beauty salon to have the group come in for an afternoon, where they have the run of the place.
Budding chefs... might enjoy creating their own party refreshments. Requirements: one kitchen, adult supervision, and one small group of ready volunteers.
Careful planning and simplicity is the key to success. And of course, recipes...
Betty Crocker Kids Cook! book not only contains kid-tested recipes, but also great safety tips.
If your daughter is both a budding chef and a Barbie fan, she'll just love the Barbie Fun to Cook Book.
Or perhaps your little lady might just love to have a tea party.
For an offbeat children's birthday party idea, popular with girls 9 years old and up, invite an astrologer to give Mini-readings. Unlike other types of "fortune telling," which focus on forecasting or "predicting the future," Astrology focuses on the guest's character and personality traits-what makes that person tick.

First Year Children's Birthday Parties
The first question you must ask is "what is the purpose of this party?"
Is it intended to be primarily a children's birthday party. That is, a gathering of your child's friends (with a smattering of adults to supervise).
Or is it a wonderful occasion for family to come from far and wide to come together and celebrate.
If the focus is on the children, then you want to plan a typical children's birthday party. Except that you'll want to pay heed to the very short attention spans and nap time requirements of your guest of honor and his or her buddies.
Keep it simple and understand that your child will enjoy the gift packaging than the expensive gift inside.
So... gifts can be simple! (Enjoy the reprieve while it lasts).
To get started, check out Birthday in a Box. They offer everything you need to create a themed party for your one year old in one package. And there are a variety of suitable themes to pick from.
If the party will resemble a family reunion with your child as the focus, then you are planning a different type of event. For more information, go to
my page on Birthday parties.
With just a little creativity and planning, your child's birthday party will become a memorable event that will last a lifetime.
